solutions shaping better experiences
My Approach
Benchmarking AI Solutions: I analyzed existing AI-powered course creation tools to understand best practices, identify gaps, and find opportunities to enhance our solution (Image 1).
User Interviews: I conducted interviews with course creators to gain firsthand insights into their pain points, workflows, and expectations. This helped us validate assumptions and prioritize key needs (Image 2).
Opportunity Tree Exercise: Using the insights gathered, I facilitated an opportunity tree exercise to map out potential improvements, focusing on areas where AI could provide the most value (Image 1).
AI-Driven solutions: I collaborated with the engineering team to design and implement an AI feature that:
Generated course modules and items based on user-provided prompts.
Suggested complementary content to balance their curriculum, such as lessons, assignments, and quizzes.
Effort vs. Impact Matrix: To ensure efficiency, we categorized ideas based on their complexity and potential impact, allowing us to prioritize solutions that would deliver the greatest benefit with manageable effort.
Results
Improved efficiency: Course creation time was reduced significantly, with some creators completing their initial drafts faster.
Enhanced quality: Creators reported increased confidence in their courses’ structure and content quality due to AI-driven suggestions.
Adoption and engagement: The feature saw high adoption rates among users, with a notable increase in the number of courses published on the platform.
Positive feedback: Users appreciated the ease of use and felt supported in their journey, contributing to higher satisfaction ratings for the platform.
Future Plans
To build on this success, the vision was to expand AI capabilities across the platform:
Support for community managers: Introduce AI-driven tools to assist community managers in fostering engagement, moderating discussions, and analyzing community health.
Advanced content personalization: Enable course creators to tailor their content further by analyzing learner feedback and preferences.
Cross-Platform integration: Implement AI features to support other users, such as learners, by recommending tailored learning paths or connecting them with relevant communities.
Smart analytics: Provide actionable insights into course performance and learner engagement using AI-driven analytics tools.
Conclusion
The AI course creation feature at Disco successfully addressed the challenges faced by course creators, streamlining their workflows and empowering them to produce high-quality learning experiences. By listening to user needs and leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies, we not only improved their experience but also set the stage for a broader AI-driven ecosystem. This initiative highlights how thoughtful design and technology can come together to enhance user outcomes and drive platform growth.
